Moeez Ahmed Khan is a postdoctoral researcher at Imperial College London, where he works at the cutting edge of synthetic biology. His research focuses on the genetic engineering of mosquitoes to help eliminate malaria in Africa—an ambitious, high-impact effort to tackle one of the world’s most persistent public health challenges. Beyond the lab, Moeez is a passionate science communicator who has collaborated with Science Fuse over several years to make science more accessible and inclusive. Through workshops and outreach efforts, he has inspired young people—especially from underserved communities in Pakistan—to see themselves as future scientists and changemakers. His work is rooted in the belief that science belongs to everyone, and that representation and belonging matter. He is also the co-founder of Genes & Machines, an interdisciplinary initiative aimed at building a vibrant Life Sciences community in Pakistan. Through this platform, Moeez is helping bridge the gap between research, innovation, and public engagement—fostering collaboration across science, technology, and society.
